About Troop 15 - Senior Patrol Leaders Message

Dear Troop 15 Scouts and Parents,

Welcome to the 2009-10 Scouting year.

We are happy to have several new Scouts, who joined our Troop this year. We welcome them as well as their parents with great excitement and enthusiasm. Also, welcome back to all of the returning Scouts and their parents. Even though we are a boy-led troop, we depend on the support of the adult leaders and parents who help us get things done. Without them, we would not be able to plan, travel, and make our outings so successful. We are happy to welcome back Bruce Turner as our Scoutmaster and Committee Chair Melissa Nelson-Zucker. We look forward to a productive and exciting year of Scouting.

Troop 15 will embark on monthly campouts throughout the year. These excursions allow Scouts to practice the skills learned at weekly Scout meetings and are always exciting and entertaining. This year we have added two new campouts, Big Basin and Marin. Our outings will also include the traditional campouts; Dillon Beach, Snow Camping in the Sierras, the Ski Trip and the Mom’s Campout.

This year our troop will be divided into three patrols lead by patrol leaders; Andrew Jara, Henry Taylor and Braeden Turner. We plan to maintain a high level of friendly competition between patrols during the year in order to fully prepare all scouts for the Jamboree.

Our Goals for Troop 15 this year are:

  • Provide all Scouts with the opportunity to advance in rank
  • Provide leadership experience and training for Scouts
  • Have merit badges available for Scouts to work on and complete
  • Have fun as well as efficient meetings
  • Have an interesting and fun campout once a month
  • Compete well and hopefully win at the Jamboree
  • Have a successful High Sierra Hike as well as summer camp at Wolfeboro
  • Complete a variety of service projects throughout the year.
  • Recruit new Scouts into the troop
  • Promote respect and scout spirit
  • And of course, HAVE FUN!

We look forward to a great year of Scouting in Troop 15.

    Yours in Scouting,

    Neal Horner
